Finally did it, bought my first 16v. Been driving it for just over a week now, and still loving it.
Was a bit worried when the 'coolant low' warning light came on at high revs, but it only did it the once, and the coolant level is fine... I've been told this is a common problem anyway... and I then saw all the postings in the technical section about it.
These pictures are from before I cleaned it... looks even better now.
Well done Matt, good to see Ian and Clive found a good home for it
Plenty of history around for that motor and as you know it is a good one - just have to hide the keys from your dad though.
It is strange but I like the wheels on this P1, odd because they came off my white P2 on which I wasn't keen at all
I think it has to be one of the most loved cars in the club, from when Bob brought it to Santa Pod probably 5 or 6 years ago now everyone just said how good it looked.
Cheers

1989 BX 16valve White 70k almost up to scratch
Well my Dad (A.K.A Keith Adams) did have a go in it last weekend, and I think he wants another 16v now
I do know this car well, and remember refurbing the wheels the first time round. The thing with the original Speedlines is that they always make any BX look great, and they look right on a Phase 1, but when on a Phase 2, they look a tad small IMO... because of the bulkier bumpers.
...and we found the invoice/list of work done at the last service, £1300 worth!! will be scanning and posting/e-mail to you as soon as... just off to bed now though....
that car has had some money thrown at it!. Dad spent £3000 on it in 2004 when we had it.
its also had a full re-spray at some point in its life because if you pull the door rubbers back you can see where its been cut in. And the damage to the dash where the 16 valve badge lives was done in stockport when theives broke into the car and tried to rip the dash badge off but failed. but not before they knicked all the outside badges first
